Home Child Care Support Services, City of Hamilton
A service for people looking after children in a home setting.
Home Child Care Support Services is a non-profit group, funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the City of Hamilton. It is a program of Affiliated Services for Children and Youth in Hamilton. Similar services are also available in the regions of Brant, Niagara and Haldimand-Norfolk.
For Services Outside the Hamilton, Niagara, Brant and Haldimand-Norfolk areas:
There is a charge of $10 for the Home Child Care Support Services Start-up Kit and a charge of $9 for an annual subscription to the "Quiet Times" newsletter. These charges will apply to Canadian residents living outside the city of Hamilton, Niagara, Brant and Haldimand-Norfolk service areas.
Home Child Care Support Services is devoted to providing information, professional education, support and other general services for home child care practitioners.

Start-up Kit:
The Start-up Kit is a step-by-step guide to help individuals who are considering providing care to children in their home. The guide provides information on:
- best practices in home child care
- options available in the Province of Ontario
- rules and regulations in the Province of Ontario
- the business side of home child care
- home safety checklist
- setting up your home child care program
- marketing your home child care business
- communicating with parents
- community resources and supports
- sample policies, procedures, parent agreement and forms
Newsletter:
“Quiet Times” is a newsletter specific to family home child care. It includes a broad range of topics that are beneficial to caregivers operating a home child care business. “Quiet Times” offers:
- Caring for Caregivers
- feature articles on encouragement, motivation, stress management and the humourous side of caregiving.
- Professional Issues
- issues regarding professionalism as a caregiver, articles on child development, positive child guidance, best practices, health and safety and parent/caregiver relationships.
- Resources
- latest information on recommended business practices, programming ideas, tips on healthy eating and nutritious recipes for snacks and meals, etc.

ASCY offers a range of professional educational opportunities for early learning and child care and home child care practitioners. In addition, there are training workshops specific to family home child care such as:
