The Ministry sets standards and licenses child care programs and agencies.

The Hamilton/Niagara Regional Office of the Ministry is responsible for licensing and monitoring child care centres and home child care agencies in the the City of Hamilton, Niagara, Halidimand-Norfolk and Brant communities.

Any person providing temporary care and guidance to more than 5 children under the age of 10 years must be licensed under the Day Nurseries Act. If you would like information regarding licensing requirments or have questions concerning services provided in licensed or unlicensed programs, contact a Ministry Program Advisor.

The Ministry's role in Co-ordinated Access for Child Care is to act in an advisory capacity on the Core Group which manages this initiative. The Ministry provided the start-up funding for this initiative.
