Other Child Care Options

In addition to child care in the licensed sector (home-based and centre-based care) and home child care through the Registry of Home-based Child Care a number of other options exist in the non-licensed or independent sector. These include:

• Independent Home Based Care
• Nanny Services and Care in Your Child's Home
• Recreation Programs, Clubs and After School Activities
• Seasonal Camps

Many independent/unlicensed child care arrangements provide good quality care but it is important to keep in mind that the regulations and standards of the Day Nurseries Act do not apply to these arrangements.
